PUBH X413 - The Future of Work: The Impact on Safety and Health Safety Professionals
Description
The type and nature of tasks and jobs in the economy are constantly changing. Some changes occur with the introduction of new work arrangements such as the use of job sharing, the gig economy, telework, remote work, and other non-standard work-employer relationships. Other changes are responses to the accelerating introduction of new digital technologies, advanced materials such as nanomaterials, and additive manufacturing (i.e., 3D printing).
Join Frank Hearl, P.E., as he discusses these evolving “future of work” conditions and how they impact the practice of occupational hygiene in ways that may present unforeseen hazards and new opportunities for workers' safety and health. He’ll also discuss how occupational safety and health professionals can observe signals of change that can help predict both the evolution of changes and the way work is performed and attempt to understand the potential impact of introducing new, and sometimes disruptive technologies. Be future-ready and seize the opportunity to use new technologies and control any new hazards.
