Description

North American agriculture plays a vital role in discovering and sharing solutions to critical challenges such as global food security and climate change. The network of universities across North America has a key role to play in research, education, and extension in partnership with federal agencies and other key stakeholders. The goal of this workshop is to develop a system-level roadmap and strategy for North American university engagement in global agriculture that can be implemented collaboratively.

The workshop goal is to develop a roadmap. The input will be gathered during the two-day meeting in Kansas City, Missouri with USDA. Twenty invitations were sent to leaders from international programs at universities of agriculture. The organizers believe that this roadmap documents for international agricultural programs in North America, a compilation of program areas which will contribute to food security and quality livelihoods and a jointly agreed upon plan of action for the academic community to move forward in particular with the NIFA Center for International Programs.
