Description

This workshop introduces graduate students and postdocs to the core concepts around equity, diversity, and social justice. We will begin by deepening our understanding of our own identities and how to work towards allyship and advocacy in our roles. Next, we will explore strategies for fostering connected, constructive dialogues on DEI topics. We will work on the skills of self-reflection, careful listening, nuanced language, and asking thoughtful questions. Finally, we will develop nuance in our understanding of our intentions, and develop empathy and active listening skills when we impact others.

Facilitator: Dr. Kelly Collins, Director of Education Program, Office for Equity and Diversity, U of MN.
