The University of Minnesota Extension Timber Management and Taxation School is designed to provide tax professionals, foresters, logging contractors, landowners, agricultural lenders, and farm management instructors with up-to-date information on federal tax treatment of income and expenses associated with the sale of timber.

Instructors will discuss the structure of typical financial transactions associated with the purchase and sale of standing timber, including Christmas trees. A main part of this course will be to discuss the federal income tax treatment and liabilities of the sale of timber.

To best serve each group's clientele, this course will strive to increase understanding for all perspectives of the forester, timber, tax preparer and others involved. The session will include ample time for questions and answers.

CPE hours will be available for tax professionals. Professional foresters will also receive SAF and MN FSP CE credits.
