Description

This virtual Synchroshop Mini-PD, offered by the Northern Lights Collaborative for Computing Education, is intended for computer science educators who are teaching the Advanced Placement Computer Science Principles (AP CSP) course. A synchroshop is a virtual learning experience that will include self-guided learning followed by a live collaborative webinar.

  • Self-Guided Learning: Participants will engage in a flexible self-guided learning experience (3 hours) that will help with understanding the Create Performance Task, reviewing rubrics, and grading sample student answers. During this time, participants will identify misconceptions by reviewing incorrect responses, and provide feedback to improve their student feedback skills. The self-guided learning materials will be available via Canvas starting 4/1 and ending on 4/5.
  • Live Collaborative Webinar: In the live webinar (1 hour), participants will discuss insights and questions related to the Create PT, share best teaching practices, and integrate the learned concepts. The live webinar is scheduled for Saturday, 4/6 10 - 11 AM CT. Participants will receive a Zoom link during the week to join the webinar. **Due to the nature of learning in this professional development, it will not be recorded. We have found that active participation during the live workshop provides the best learning outcomes.**

Details will also be shared on how participants can sign up for other learning opportunities offered by the Northern Lights Collaborative.

Request a Certificate

Participants who complete the mini-PD will be able to request a certificate of completion by using the PD Completion Certificate Request form that will be shared during the webinar on 4/6. Forms must be submitted by 4/13.
