In PUBH 7200-107: Mycelial Leadership, students will establish a foundational understanding of the neurobiology and physiology of trauma. Students will apply this foundational knowledge to practice effective communication strategies and interventions as leaders in team environments. This course focuses on experiential learning activities to apply the principles of a trauma-informed approach to fostering healthy and healing team ecosystems through effective communication and to caring for one’s self in a sustainable, trauma-informed way.

This non-credit course meets with the academic course PubH 7200-107 as part of the 2024 Public Health Institute.

Objectives

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

After the end of this course students will be able to:

  • Demonstrate understanding of the neurobiology of trauma and its application to trauma-informed leadership
  • Demonstrate understanding of trauma-informed communication techniques, including:
    • Open-ended inquiry
    • Supportive and reflective listening
    • Nonverbal support
    • Co-creation of action steps based on team member needs and preferences
  • Identify at least two next steps for integration of trauma-informed communication strategies into leadership behaviors and practices for care of self

Registration & Cancellation

The registration fee for this course is $297. You will receive an email letter outlining program logistics two weeks prior to the start of the course.

Requests for refunds will be honored in full if a written cancellation request is received prior to the course start date. An administration fee of $50 will be charged to all refund requests received after the first day of class. The Centers for Public Health Education and Outreach (CPHEO) reserves the right to cancel any course. In the event of a course cancellation, registrants will receive a full refund of the program registration fee. CPHEO is not responsible for refund of travel or other costs incurred by registrants.

The Centers for Public Health Education and Outreach will provide a certificate of attendance verifying 0.75 CEUs (7.5 contact hours) offered for this program. This course is eligible for 7.5 CPH recertification credits.

All courses are approved for CPH Recertification Credits by the National Board of Public Health Examiners.
