Description

This Summer Institute is designed for faculty and instructors at any higher education institution who are seeking new approaches to internationalize their courses. During this interactive, hands-on experience, participants will focus on one course of their choosing.

Participants will learn the University of Minnesota's internationalization-at-home model. The Institute facilitators will share examples of how the UMN model has been applied to different courses and disciplines by faculty and instructors who have participated in similar training programs in past years. During the three days, participants will develop their own course materials and receive feedback from expert facilitators and co-attendees.

All participants who complete Institute requirements will receive a Certificate of Completion.

Objectives

By the end of this Institute, participants will be able to:

  1. Revise a course of their choice by rethinking their learning goals to prepare global-ready graduates in their discipline.
  2. Apply a wide variety of teaching strategies and assessments focused on deepening international, intercultural, and global learning of their students.
  3. Deepen cultural self-awareness as teachers.
  4. Grow and foster their professional teaching networks by working together with participants from different disciplines and institutions on preparing global-ready graduates.
