Description

The Food Preservation Consultant Course is an online Canvas course for Master Gardener Volunteers to learn and share current home food preservation methods within their communities. This course features general food preservation concepts, plus specialized training in dehydrating, canning, freezing, jams & jellies, fermentation, and pickling.

Master Gardeners completing this training can serve as volunteer educators and provide research-based food preservation information. Opportunities for outreach and education may include:

  • Preparing educational displays, writing articles for newsletters, newspapers
  • Sharing information via social media and news outlets
  • Provide research-based food preservation information at local farmers’ markets, county fairs, or community events
  • Answer food preservation questions
  • Teach presentations and workshops

This course is only available for Master Gardener Volunteers who have already registered through the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum.
