Description

Class and economic position shape how we move through the world- our access to resources, our sense of security, and how we are perceived by others. Yet conversations about class can evoke discomfort, shame, and misunderstanding. This course invites learners to engage in open, reflective dialogue about class, power, and belonging as essential dimensions of civic life. Learners will explore how wealth, work, and educational opportunity are interwoven with cultural and historical forces in the United States. Through reflection and discussion, learners will examine how class assumptions and hierarchies influence learning communities and workplaces, and how greater awareness can foster empathy, dignity, and cooperation across economic lines.
