Description

Efforts toward gender equity and justice have shaped societies across centuries, yet inequities, bias, and gender-based violence persist around the world. This course invites learners to engage in dialogue about how gender norms, power, and identity influence opportunity, safety, and belonging in daily life. Learners will explore how affirming the dignity and agency of all people, across gender identities and expressions, strengthens communities and fosters collective wellbeing. Through reflection, conversation, and applied practice, participants will examine how harmful gender expectations and restrictions take root in culture and institutions, and will identify strategies for interrupting bias and preventing harm.  By the end of this course, learners will:

  • Understand how social and cultural expectations shape experiences of gender and power.
  • Reflect on personal and institutional responsibilities in promoting safety, respect, and belonging.
  • Identify actions that contribute to learning and workplace environments that promote gender justice
