You'll learn how CSAwesome 2.0 aligns with the College Board AP Computer Science A Course and Exam Description, how to navigate and customize lessons inside Runestone Academy, strategies for using interactive coding exercises, Parsons problems, and auto-graded practice, how to monitor student progress with built-in analytics and reports, tips for pacing, differentiation, and AP exam preparation, and best practices from experienced AP CSA teachers.  This PD will walk you through both the pedagogy and the platform, so you start the year confident and organized.

Objectives

Teachers attending this CSAwesome professional development experience will:

  • Learn to use the CSAwesome Curriculum and the Runestone Academy Platform to teach College Board’s AP Computer Science A (Java) course. 
  • Join a professional learning community, supported by a PD facilitator experienced with CSAwesome. 
  • Receive ongoing support from an online discussion forum and PD facilitator. 
  • Gain access to the CSAwesome student curriculum and teacher materials.
