This module and all other modules in the Occupational and Nanotechnology Health and Safety Series require that you first complete PubH X600: Occupational and Nanotechnology Health and Safety Pre-course Survey  There are 19 modules in the series. You will only need to complete the survey one time regardless of the number of modules you chose to complete.

In this module participants will learn how occupational exposure limits to nanomaterials are determined and how exposure limits are bench-marked based on toxicological evidence or the lack thereof.

By the end of this module, learners should be able to:

  • Show how occupational exposure limits are established and distinguished among types of occupational exposure limits
  • Show how occupational exposure bands or provisional exposure limits can be set in the absence of reliable toxicological evidence
  • Locate relevant occupational exposure limits for nanomaterials and select an appropriate benchmark exposure level for a nanomaterial
