Description

This 8-hour "hybrid" continuing education course will serve as a Physical Agent Modalities (PAMs) review for licensed occupational therapists who do not practice primarily in hand therapy. Four hours of instruction will occur online, will be self-paced, and will focus on the mechanisms, indications, contraindications, intervention parameters, and application of electrotherapy, superficial thermal, and ultrasound modalities. Online learning will include recorded presentations, short readings, and a case study. The remaining 4 hours of instruction will occur in a traditional workshop format and will involve demonstration and supervised practice in delivering superficial thermal, ultrasound, TENS, and NMES modalities. Online learning will be assessed through use of a graded quiz and case study assignment.
