Description

Manage product backlogs, plan and execute projects, and report on progress as a Certified ScrumMaster®.

Outline

The Scrum Alliance announced in March that they will allow certification on virtual classes during this pandemic period, including the Certified ScrumMaster® and CertifiedScrum Product Owner®.

Scrum is the leading Agile product development framework. It provides a foundation and path to delivering business goals in a collaborative, sane, and enjoyable manner. This intensive two-day course, taught by a Certified Scrum Trainer®, will prepare you for the online test. The course fee includes a two-year membership in the Scrum Alliance®, an organization that provides valuable materials and resources exclusively to CSM®s.

Course Content

In this course, we'll cover pragmatic, time-tested practices for managing product backlogs, long- and short-range planning, project execution, and progress reporting. We'll also examine many facets of Scrum, including the project lifecycle, roles, ceremonies, and artifacts. You will participate in exercises, in-depth discussion, case studies, and techniques to help illustrate practices and principles.

Certified ScrumMaster® Course Learning Objectives

  • The basics of what Scrum is and how it fits into an Agile process
  • How the ScrumMaster role differs from a traditional project manager
  • The process for organizing, planning, and executing a Scrum project
  • Strategies for applying the Scrum framework to your job in the real world.

About the Certified ScrumMaster® Test

To sit for the Certified ScrumMaster test, you need to complete the two-day Certified ScrumMaster® course taught by a Certified Scrum Trainer. The Scrum Alliance® does not permit candidates to take the test independent of the course.

Your instructor will enroll you in the Scrum Alliance at the conclusion of the course, thus assuring your participation in the two days of training. Your course fee includes a two-year membership in the Scrum Alliance, with access to the online test.

After completing your CSM® course, you’ll receive an email from Scrum Alliance that includes a link to create your login credentials. The first step will be to take the test. Once the test is complete, you will be asked to accept a license agreement and set up your online profile. It may take up to two weeks after course completion to receive your welcome email.

The test consists of 35 multiple choice and true/false questions. A passing score is 24. The test will take approximately 60 minutes to complete. You’ll be required to demonstrate your understanding of key Scrum elements, including:

  • General Scrum knowledge
  • Scrum roles
  • Scrum meetings
  • Scrum artifacts

You will have two attempts within 90 days after you receive your welcome email to pass the test at no cost.  After two attempts or 90 days, you will be charged $25 for each additional attempt.

More information is available on the Scrum Alliance website.
