Assessing the influence of work and working on human health. This activity has been submitted to the American Association of Occupational Health Nurses (AAOHN) for approval to award contact hours. AAOHN is an accredited approver of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation. Expiration: September 27, 2016.

 

Objectives

Upon completion of the module, you will be able to:

  • Discuss the changing demographics of the worker population and the workplace and how this is affecting trends in illness and injury.
  • Identify priorities for prevention and control in occupational health and safety.
  • Assess the impact of the five major environmental factors common to every work setting on the health of workers.
  • Identify examples of the hierarchy of control in occupational health and safety.

Competencies

The core competencies for public health professionals are a consensus set of skills identified by the Council on Linkages (CoL) between academia and public health practice as being desirable for the delivery of the essential public health services. The CoL competencies identified for this course are:

Domain 6: Basic Public Health Sciences Skills

Domain 7: Financial Planning and Management Skills
