Description

FAA owns, operates, and maintains Aviation Navigation Systems across the country.  States, and individual airports, have enhanced the Federal system with additional Non-Fed installations over time.  States and airports certify and maintain the systems they own to standards required by FAA.  As technology has advanced, some systems have not, leading to workforce and training challenges.  Join us for a one-day informational seminar to explore equipment types, certification requirements, and strategies for system management.

Topics covered:

  • Navigation Systems - what they are
  • How Navigation Systems are established and commissioned
  • How Navigation Systems are certified and maintained
  • Developing a de-commissioning plan
  • Technician certification requirements
  • State of MN vendor requirements

Who should attend:

This session is intended for anyone interested in learning about how to become certified in maintaining airport NAVAIDS. Airports, electricians, electrical companies, telecommunication companies, and those who work on traffic signals and traffic lighting will benefit from attending this seminar. Airports are encouraged to inform their navigation system staff or NAVAIDS management company about this informational opportunity.

Registration:

The seminar is free, but you must register by September 5 to attend. Lunch and materials are included.
