Description

This Webinar will introduce an interactive 6th-grade unit plan examining how the U.S.-Dakota War has been represented in Minnesota newspapers from both the Minnesota River Valley and the Twin Cities from 1862 to the present. Through the unit, students analyze the shifting discourses around the war and Native peoples in Minnesota, while engaging with primary source materials and building critical media literacy skills. Session participants will receive access to all curricular materials, including lesson plans and reproducible readings and worksheets, to use in their classrooms.
