Do you or someone you know daydream of starting or expanding a small farm or buying an acreage? Is it time to take the next step? UM Extension Small Farm Education workshop series starts this Fall. Contact gred0014@umn.edu for additional details.

This workshop series will provide you with a solid background in all aspects of small farm operation and management. The basic agricultural information will help you be a good steward of your land and prepare you for more advanced learning opportunities. The eight-week course, offered by University of Minnesota Extension, begins with goal setting and individual property inventory, then addresses soil, plant, livestock, equipment and water basics. You’ll also have plenty of time for networking and questions.

Registration Fee: $159 for the course (covers two people from one farm) due Oct 10. Late Fee: An additional $20 will be charged for registrations after Oct 10.

Price includes: Registration for up to two people per farm, web access to all resources and course material, soil sample kits and instructions, farm tours/farmer panels, networking with peers and experts, lots of great handouts & links, access to many experts. All Information is evidence-based, unbiased.

All in-person and online synchronous classes are Wednesday evenings, October 21 through December 16 from 6:30 to 8:30 PM. Many sessions will be online. In person classes are at Pine County Courthouse, 635 Northridge Dr. NW, Pine City MN 55063 or Isanti County Government Center, 555 18th Ave SW, Cambridge 55008. View course brochure here.
