Description

This workshop is tailored for volunteers interested in learning hands-on techniques for ecological restoration through sustainable farming practices.

In this unique opportunity, you will learn from farmers, scientists, and natural resources professionals about silvopasture (integrating trees and grazing livestock on the same land) and how it can be used to restore Minnesota's rapidly diminishing oak savanna.

Participants will rotate through workstations and learn from experts on topics such as soil and water health, forest management, seedling protection techniques, and selecting native seed mixes.

Volunteers should be prepared to engage in a moderate level of physical activity while helping the farm owner restore oak savanna. Wear long pants, closed-toed shoes, and gloves.
