This Tree Steward class is being offered for people who love trees, enjoy being outdoors, and want to volunteer with the City of Saint Paul. In this class, you will learn how to properly plant and maintain young/newly planted trees, how to prune young trees and remove suckers/sprouts from mature trees, and how to monitor a young tree's health during the establishment period.
CLASS: Includes two components -
- Presentation: via Zoom, Friday, July 9th, 6:00-7:30 by University of Minnesota Tree Care Advocates Program (link will be provided in your receipt).
- Hands-on training hosted by the City of Saint Paul: Saturday, July 10th, at Como Park. We will be meeting on Jessamine Avenue south of McMurray Fields. Participants will sign up for 1 of the 2 sessions, either 9:00-11:00 or 1:00-3:00.
- This training is offered to adults. However, a child is welcome to accompany their parent/guardian for the training if they are interested in learning the content as well.
- We encourage volunteers to engage with the City of Saint Paul through volunteer events post-training. You may participate in a variety of activities that can include but are not limited to planting, pruning, and monitoring trees.
