Description

Child Welfare Foundation Training (CWFT or "Foundations") is designed and developed for new child protection workers. The Foundations curriculum is a comprehensive, blended learning experience staggered over time for workers to further integrate knowledge and skills into practice. It provides skill and practice-intensive content, combining classroom and web-based modules. Instructor-led classrooms are scheduled and facilitated using a cohort model to enable networking and professional development. Instructor-led classes are currently facilitated online using the Zoom platform.

Course Components

  • Foundations eLearning: A series of 21 self-paced modules focused on basic policy and practices
     
  • NTI eLearning: A series of self-paced online courses covering the mental health and developmental needs of children moving to or having achieved permanency.
     
  • Instructor-led classroom training:16 days of instructor-led training that focuses on key concepts in child welfare, processes of the child welfare system, and application of child protection skills through instruction, activities, and group processing.
     
  • SSIS Labs: After classroom 2 & 3
