Description

In recent years, the MN DNR-Forestry Ecological Classification Systems team has developed silvicultural guidance for forest managers. Highly flexible based on silvicultural objectives, this guidance offers detailed insights into plant community development, opportunities to modify stand composition in various ways, techniques to accelerate development of later growth stage characteristics, and much more decision support. In this field-based event, we'll tour mesic hardwood communities managed by DNR-Forestry and the Itasca County Land Department. Discussions will be wide ranging based on attendee interests, but will focus on managing for hardwood quality (yes, that's possible in northern Minnesota!), ironwood management, and related topics.

Lunch, refreshments, and all handouts included.
