OED X102 - ECHO Dialogues Across Difference: Addressing Bias & Microaggressions
Description
Creating a community grounded in dignity and belonging requires more than awareness- it calls for reflection, dialogue, and shared responsibility. This course examines how implicit bias shapes perception, communication, and relationships, often resulting in everyday harms that erode trust and connection. Learners will explore how recognizing multiple perspectives and distributing voice and power more equitably can strengthen cooperation and understanding. Through dialogue and scenario work, participants will develop the mindsets and tools needed to identify and address bias and microaggressions in ways that uphold respect and repair relationships. By the end of this course, learners will:
- Understand how implicit bias operates within individual and institutional contexts.
- Practice strategies for recognizing and exploring multiple viewpoints.
- Build skills in deep listening, perspective-taking, and responding to difficult moments with empathy and accountability.
- Practice dialogue and reflection as strategies for interrupting bias and repairing harm.
