Description

Managing software projects with multiple contributors would be a challenge without a structured system to coordinate changes in the code. Modern software projects use so-called source control systems. 'Source' in this case refers to the code as it is written. Your source might be simple bash shell scripts or code written in Python, Java, C, R, and other programming languages. If you have 5 or 10 programmers all contributing to the same source code base, you definitely need some rigid rules to prevent you all from messing things up.
