Description

Participants in this training series program will develop science communication skills centered on BIPOC identities, voices, and experiences. Students will examine Inclusive Science Communication (ISC) theory and practice through the lens of equity, inclusion, intersectionality, and racialized identities in STEM. Through podcasts and written reflections, students will explore narrative storytelling in the context of their lived experiences and the histories they bring to their research. Participants will apply their training through submissions to the Graduate School Diversity Office’s SPARK e-zine and engagement with BIPOC STEM students and families in a community engagement event at the Bell Museum. Learners will be expected to participate in the entire workshop series and create a final product for the Bell Museum to earn a Gold Badge - a digital credential from the Graduate School. This training program is funded by the Institute for Advanced Studies Research Collaborative and in collaboration with  BGREAT, CORE, the Science Communication Lab, and the Graduate School Diversity Office.

*All registrants for ISCE training must be COSP eligible.
