Description

Creating access does not end at accommodations- it’s about cultivating a community where everyone’s presence, needs, and contributions are recognized as valid and essential. This course explores how environmental design, awareness of access barriers, and an asset-based approach can shape classrooms and workplaces where all people can participate fully and flourish. Together, participants will consider how classrooms, offices, events, and digital spaces can be structured to reflect our commitment to dignity, empathy, and belonging. Emphasis is placed on cooperation, creativity, and conversation as pathways to ensuring that access is not an afterthought but a shared community practice.  By the end of this course, learners will:

  • Explore universal design, accessibility measures, and accommodations as tools for participation and connection.
  • Assess the accessibility of their own environments and systems with curiosity and care.
  • Practice dialogue and collaboration to identify access barriers and co-create solutions.
  • Strengthen their commitment to building spaces that affirm every person’s right to belong and contribute.
