Description

Have you passed your prelims and told everyone you are "dissertating"—but have no idea what that even is? In this participatory workshop, students will determine what Life as a Dissertator looks like for them. How do we honor our own post-prelims burnout? How do we actually start writing a dissertation chapter? How can we set realistic writing goals and timelines to get to PhDone? And how do we navigate such questions when experiencing the power hierarchies of academia that contribute to the “trauma of graduate education” (Godbee, 2020)? Participants will leave with some tips and strategies for shaping their dissertation-writing process.

Facilitators: Center for Writing Co-Directors Katie Levin, PhD, and Jasmine Kar Tang, PhD.
