COURSE PURPOSE
The critical care team is crucial to improved patient care and outcomes in the intensive care unit. Join other hospitalists who care for the critically ill patient in this four day immersion into the Intensive Care Unit. Combine the Society of Critical Care Medicine's Fundamentals of Critical Care Support (FCCS) course with rounding in the University of Minnesota Intensive Care units, case studies, didactic instruction and simulation of basic procedures unique to the Intensive Care Unit.

AUDIENCE
This course is ideal for hospitalists, critical care pharmacists, critical care nurses and allied health professionals working in an intensive care unit.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
Following this activity, participants should be better able to:

  • Identify the immediate needs of the critically ill patient
  • Describe standardized protocols for common issues in the critically ill patient
  • Review new evidence-based practices in the critically ill patient
  • Recognize early signs of a deteriorating patient
  • Review ventilator management guidelines
  • Describe the role of the critical care team in the care of the critically ill patient
  • Discuss the role of the family in decision-making in the care of the critically ill patient

COURSE MATERIALS
The Foundations of Critical Care Support textbook will be sent out to participants prior to the start of the course. Classroom handouts will be provided as needed.

CANCELLATION POLICY
In the event you need to cancel your registration, the registration fee, less a $50 administrative fee, will be refunded if you notify us by 4:30 p.m. Central Time on April 20, 2016. No refunds will be made after this date.
