Description

Our learning communities are increasingly diverse across ethnicity, class, language, gender, sexuality, nationality, ability, and a myriad of other interconnected identities. Alongside the reverberating impacts of the last few years, the expanded diversity on campus has amplified conversations about “DEI in the classroom” and more responsive approaches to teaching and learning. Yet, for educators, balancing the needs of our students with curricular demands and our own wellbeing can quickly become overwhelming. This workshop presents an introduction to social justice pedagogy with an emphasis on skill-development and action-planning. While all are welcome, workshop content and activities are geared toward educators who are committed to meeting the needs of a rapidly diversifying campus community but unsure of where to begin.
