Description

We know from research that MI learners often overestimate their skills before they are trained in the technique and underestimate their skills after they’ve received training (Hartzler, 2007). The 1.5-hour Coaching Circles are designed to help you foster a realistic self-appraisal, hone your MI skills (with practice and feedback) and increase your confidence in the approach. The topics in each Circle have some similarity (except for Coaching Circle 4, which will focus on preparing you for the final skills demonstration course).

Possible Topics for Coaching Circle 4:

  1. Agenda Mapping
  2. Autonomy Support
  3. Ask-Offer-Ask

Registration Requirements:

MI: Instructor-Led Workshops is a prerequisite to this course. To meet certification requirements, participants must complete Coaching Circles 1-4. Participants are allowed to take Coaching Circles 1-4 in any order. Once you complete all 4 coaching circles you will be eligible to register for the Final Skills Demonstration course.
