Description: This experiential workshop will guide participants through the process of using compelling images to spark learners’ curiosity and develop their critical thinking skills. Using the theme of Street Art around the world, participants will collaborate to define and suggest purposes for this art form. Participants will then apply Six Key Critical Thinking Questions to analyze examples of Street Art. Finally, the presenter will model how images can be used to motivate learners to use more complex language and deepen their cultural understandings.

After this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Spark learners’ curiosity by using images of Street Art, and help them create an expanded definition of this art form;
  • Apply Six Key Questions to Promote Critical Thinking to an example of Street Art;
  • Guide learners’ discussions on how Street Art reflects culture; and
  • Encourage the use of more complex language by learners by elaborating on their responses to the Six Key Questions.
