Description

Developed by the University of Minnesota’s Center for Practice Transformation and in consultation with experts, Enhanced Illness Management and Recovery (E-IMR) is an augmented or “enhanced” version of IMR with the Integrated Dual Disorder Treatment (IDDT) principles integrated into the intervention to better serve individuals experiencing mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders (CODs).

Practitioners across a range of service lines gain a shared language, foundation of person-centered and recovery-oriented principles, and proven skills to use when delivering care to people with CODs. This approach helps practitioners and their clients identify the interaction between substance use and mental illness, and utilize strategies to reduce and manage symptoms to help support them in living their best lives.

This 18 CE course includes two modules, Introduction to E-IMR (3 CEs) which provides fundamental knowledge of E-IMR’s principles and values and Foundations in E-IMR (15 CEs) which emphasizes the application of skills, strategies and how to use E-IMR in practice.

Consultation is required for certification in E-IMR Foundations and is included in the purchase price. Participants  attend four, 50-minute consultation sessions with an E-IMR clinical trainer, offered regularly through the Center for Practice Transformation. Upon completion of this course, please email transform@umn.edu to schedule.

We strongly suggest all participants purchase the E-IMR manual to use in conjunction with this training which can be purchased at the University of Minnesota Bookstore here. Upon purchase of this course, you will receive a discount code for the manual listed on the receipt.

Please contact transform@umn.edu with any questions or concerns.
