Description

The purpose of the clinical competency evaluation is to assess the practitioner’s level of mastery in using integrated skills for people with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. In order to accomplish this, you are required to submit two (2) audio recordings of your work with a client or group. Two recorded sessions are required in order to provide a more accurate evaluation of skills. A single session may not allow the practitioner to demonstrate all the skills he or she is capable of. Recording an audio session with a client and having it evaluated by trained evaluators using a reliable rating instrument.

 

Criteria for Successfully Completing the Clinical Competency Exam

1. Submission of at least 2 work samples of 45-60 minutes long.

2. Rating of 3 “satisfactory” or above on 80% of the items on the clinical competency scale

3. Rating of 3 or higher on 5 key items:

a. Recovery Orientation

b. Goal Setting

c. Goal Follow-up

d. Home Assignments

e. Social Skills Training
