Description

During summer 2016, 25 educators gathered to share their lesson plans and discuss how to integrate African content into the curriculum in culturally appropriate ways after which six participants spent an additional two weeks creating new engaging curriculum.  Due to popular demand, this summer's institute Africa in the Classroom Part II is a continuation of what we began in summer 2016.  Educators are welcome to attend even if you did not attend summer 2016.

This institute is designed to help educators better integrate Africa into their curriculum in culturally appropriate ways and to give current educators an opportunity to share and learn from each other how to 'teach Africa.'

Area K-12 and community college educators from ANY discipline who have taught lessons plans related to Africa are invited to submit a proposal for a 1-3 hour lesson plan (s) presentation to share during this institute.

If the proposal is accepted, those educators presenting will attend the institute free of cost AND be paid a modest $100-$250.
