Want a free trip to the National Council of Social Studies Teachers Conference in San Francisco November 17-19, 2017?  The African Studies Initiative is funding 3-5 K-12 educators to attend the NCSS conference and present lesson plans they have developed on African content.
Requirements include
  • Must be a current K-12 educator
  • Must attend an planning  session on February 7 and bring lesson plan (or idea of one) that has African content
  • Must work with colleagues to submit individual or collective proposal present one of the designated presentation types at the NCSS Call For Proposals which are due February 27, 2017
  • Must have proposal accepted
  • Must share your accepted lesson plan for feedback from other educators during the Africa in the Classroom, II institute, June 19-22, 2017 (You are not required to attend the whole institute unless you wish to.)
  • Must commit to working 4 hours in the African Studies Initiative booth in the exhibit hall at NCSS as well as presenting accepted proposal
