The Moorhead Regional Conference takes place on May 12, 2017 from 9:00am - 4:00pm at the Marriott Hotel, 1080 28th Ave South,Moorhead, MN 56560. This conference is divided into two 3-hour workshops. The morning workshop (9:00am - Noon) is entitled "Recovery Oriented Relapse Prevention Skills" and the afternoon workshop (1:00pm - 4:00pm) is "Recovery Oriented Behavioral Experiments for Co-occurring Disorders." Participants can enroll in either the morning or afternoon workshop or both.
Recovery Oriented Relapse Prevention
This is a strengths-based approach that can change the way we help prevent relapse and promote long-term recovery. By using an integrated care model to manage and reduce a person’s symptoms, help improve functioning and prevent recurrences, we can provide the client the necessary support needed to accomplish goals and achieve recovery. Incorporating peer-based recovery support services and other social supports are proven factors in initiating and maintaining lifestyle changes.
Recovery Oriented Behavioral Experiments for Co-occurring Disorders (COD)
Behavioral experiments are powerful tools for clinicians to have at their disposal. Join us as we outline the components and experiment with using these skills in the workshop. Behavioral experiments are an often forgotten and an underutilized strategy in cognitive behavioral therapy. However, they are especially useful when working with individuals who have problems related to their co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders (COD). This workshop will discuss the rationale for using this CBT strategy with individuals who have co-occurring disorders, and outline the components of a behavioral experiment as we try out these skills.
