Learn question types, advanced test-taking strategies, common test items, timing, and the most efficient ways to solve problems in a university classroom environment. The accelerated format is designed to speed up your study time! The first session is a 4-hour proctored exam, and the following two sessions will be full day classes, one on the verbal section, and the other on quantitative section of the GRE.
Session 1: Take a paper and pencil exam given by a proctor on the verbal and quantitative sections and receive course materials. Bring a calculator to this session. The proctored exam provides an opportunity to experience the type of questions found on the exam. This also will help you determine your readiness for the actual exam, and pinpoint those areas on which you should focus your study. Instructor led classes begin week two. This class session meets for approximately 2 1/2 hours.
Session 2: Learn about basic parts of the test and review the organizational process and strategies for writing the required issues and argument essays. Receive a timed writing assignment to help prepare for essay writing; this practice essay must be e-mailed to the instructor in order to receive formative comments via return e-mail.
Session 3: Review how to manipulate and apply concepts in arithmetic, algebra and geometry problems. Learn how to solve complicated application problems by looking for shortcuts and avoiding conceptual errors. Learn how to use picture math to significantly reduce anxiety and lessen the time spent finding a solution to complex problems.
